MEN'S SOCCER SLIPS UP AT NO. 22 RANKED CSU BAKERSFIELD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield scored three times during a 15 minute stretch in the first half and the Sacramento State men's soccer team lost, 4-0, to the Roadrunners on Friday night at Main Soccer Field.

The Hornets (2-3-1) have been outscored 10-1 in three road losses but have outscored opponents 4-1 while posting a 2-0-1 home mark. The Roadrunners (2-1-3) improved to 2-0-1 at home.

CSUB star forward Gyasi Zardes scored his second goal of the season in the 21st minute. He assisted on the Roadrunners' next goal, a 12-yard blast by Kory Kindle in the 28th minute. Jesus Sanchez continued the run with a goal in the 34th minute. David Velasquez added on the fourth and final goal in the 57th minute.

Sacramento State forward Max Alvarez had a team-high two shots on goal. Keeper Bryan Oliver made a season-high eight saves.

CSUB, a former Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rival for Sacramento State, outshot the Hornets 23-7 in the game and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Sacramento State will return home to the friendly confines of Hornet Field to meet San Jose State at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday as part of a doubleheader with the women's soccer squad. The Hornets are 19-2-7 at home over the last four seasons.
