2026-27 RECRUITING CLASS: SOFTBALL SIGNS SIX PLAYERS

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State 13th-year head softball coach Lori Perez announced six high school seniors have signed National Letters of Intent, and will enroll at the University as freshmen in the fall.

The six players include left-handed pitcher Jordan Bey, outfielder Choyce Chambers, catcher Madie Harrison, outfielder Taylor Mendoza, second base/outfielder Deja Montgomery, and catcher/utility Victoria Roman.

Jordan Bey • Fr. • P • 5-8 • L/L • Houston, Texas
• Entering her fourth season of varsity softball at Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas
• Will graduate from Episcopal this spring
• A three-time all-conference selection, and a finalist for VYPE Private School Player of the Year as a junior
• During her junior season, she struck out 113 batters in 93.1 innings while posting a 1.52 ERA
• Helped the Knights to three straight Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) state championships
• Struck out 88 batters as a freshman and 63 as a sophomore, before striking out 113 as a junior
• Member of the National Honor Society 
• Played travel ball for Team North Carolina

Perez quote - "Jordan will bring an immediate impact to our pitching staff. She comes in as a left-hander who has an array of pitches and the ability to mix speeds at any time. She is a competitor on the field, and one of the hardest workers I have ever recruited."

Choyce Chambers • Fr. • OF • 5-6 • R/R • Long Beach, Calif.
• Entering fourth season on the varsity squad at Valley Christian High School in Cerritos, Calif.
• Will graduate from Valley Christian this spring
• A three-time all-Olympic League selection, including first team as a junior after batting .425 with 41 runs, 11 extra base hits (3 homers) and 31 stolen bases
• Was also first team all-CIF and first team Press Telegram Dream Team as a junior after helping lead the team to an Olympic League title
• A career .396 hitter with a .471 on-base percentage, 96 runs and 58 stolen bases
• Hit .420 as a freshman, .354 as a sophomore, and .425 as a junior
• Played travel ball for USA Athletics

Perez quote - "Choyce blew us away with her athleticism in the outfield and her ability to track down and rob extra base hits. Like Deja, she will fly around the bases and challenge teams to play faster because of her speed."

Madie Harrison • Fr. • C • 5-8 • R/R • Manteca, Calif.
• Entering her fourth season on the varsity team at Central Catholic High School in Modesto, Calif.
• Will graduate from Central Catholic this spring
• A three-time all-Valley Oak League selection, including a junior season in which she was second team all-state and the Valley Oak offensive MVP
• Helped the Raiders to three straight league championships
• As a junior, she hit .461 (47-for-102) with 11 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 47 RBIs and 1.392 ops
• Career numbers are .405 batting average, .467 on-base percentage, 45 extra base hits (16 home runs), 62 runs scored and 94 RBIs in 95 games
• Lifetime member of the National Honor Society
• Played travel ball for OC Batbusters

Perez quote - "Madie will help fill the shoes of some of the power we will lose with our current seniors. She has the ability to hit the ball out of the park in every at-bat. She has a commanding presence behind the plate when catching, and does a good job of working with her pitchers."

Taylor Mendoza • Fr. • OF • 5-6 • R/R • Honolulu, Hawaii
• Entering second season on the varsity team at James Campbell High School in Ewa Beach, Hawaii
• Will graduate from James Campbell in the spring
• Played one year of varsity as a sophomore at Roosevelt High School in Honolulu.
• Two time all-state selection and first team all-league
• As a sophomore, she hit .553
• Was a team captain as a sophomore
• As a junior, she hit .300 for a Campbell team that finished third in the state
• Played travel ball for Lady Knights Black

Perez quote - "I am excited to welcome Taylor as our first Hawaii commit. She is strong, athletic, and a hard worker. She is a competitor, and brings a family first mindset to our team."

Deja Montgomery • Fr. • 2B/OF • 5-6 • L/R • Vallejo, Calif.
• Entering fourth season on the varsity team at American Canyon High School in American Canyon, Calif.
• Will graduate from American Canyon this spring
• A three-time first team all-Vine Valley Athletic League selection
• Has hit at least .435 each of her first three seasons with the Wolves
• For her career, she is hitting .469 with a .507 on-base percentage and 77 runs scored in 65 games
• Averaging nearly one stolen base per game and has 61 career steals
• Hit .462 as a freshman, .506 as a sophomore, and .435 as a junior
• Served as a team captain during her junior season
• Played travel ball for Batbusters

Perez quote - "Deja brings a ton of athleticism to our team, and will fly around the base path with her speed. Defensively, she can play the infield or the outfield, and can get to balls most players cannot run down."

Victoria Roman • Fr. • C/UT • 5-3 • R/R • Glendora, Calif.
• Entering fourth season of varsity softball
• Will graduate this spring from South Hills High School in West Covina, Calif.
• Last season, as a junior, she hit .407 for the Huskies
• The upcoming season will be her third at South Hills HS
• Played her freshman season at Northview High School where she hit .420 with a .473 on-base percentage
• Was an all-league choice as a freshman
• Played travel ball for The Vault

Perez quote - "Victoria is the ultimate competitor. She has a strong arm behind the plate and will throw out many runners. She also has the versatility to play other positions on the field."
