SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State junior forward Donovan Sessoms was named to the All-Big West Conference second team while first-year teammate Allbranly Gue picked up Big West All-Freshman Team honors according to a vote of head coaches as the league office announced its annual postseason honor roll on Tuesday.
Sessoms picked up all-conference honors for the second consecutive season after being named to the first team as a sophomore in 2024. He becomes only the fifth player in program history to earn multiple All-Big West honors in a career, joining three-time honoree Paul Geyer (2015-17) and two-time selections Isaac Ikurav (2012-13), James Del Curto (2016-17), and Benji Kikanovic (2018-19).
Meanwhile, Gue gives the Hornets a representative on the league's all-freshman team for the second straight season and at least one on the list for the 11th time since joining the Big West in 2012. He is the 16th Sacramento State player overall to be named to the all-freshman team in that span.
A focal point of defenses all season, Sessoms finished his second year in the green and gold with a pair of goals and three assists, giving him 12 career scores overall in two seasons while tallying the first three helpers of his Hornet career.
Starting 15 of his 17 appearances on the year, the Antelope, Calif., native opened the campaign with his team's goal against nationally ranked Stanford and added another score in a 2-1 win over UC San Diego on Oct. 25. In between, he posted assists against Utah Tech (Aug. 24) and Grand Canyon (Aug. 28), then assisted on Gue's goal against Cal Poly on Oct. 15.
Entering the Big West Tournament, Sessoms ranked sixth in the league with 39 shot attempts and tied for fifth with 17 shots on goal while also tying for 11th with his three assists.
Gue, who appeared in 16 of the team's 18 matches and made 11 starts, finishing with a team-high three goals and sharing the top spot on the squad with Sessoms with seven points. After making his debut in the season-opener against nationally ranked Stanford, Gue scored his first career goal in a 2-1 win over Pacific on Sept. 11, and added scores against Cal Poly (Oct. 15) and UC Davis (Nov. 1). His lone assist came against Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 4.
He ranks tied for 14th in the league in goals entering the conference tournament and was ranked among the top 20 in points.
