OGDEN, Utah -- Weber State's Faith Hoe combined for four RBIs, and Mariah Ramirez threw a three-hit shutout to lead the Wildcats to a doubleheader sweep of Sacramento State on Friday afternoon at Wildcat Field. Weber State won the first game,  7-4, before taking the nightcap, 5-0.

The two teams will complete their three-game series with a game tomorrow at 11 a.m. PDT. In a matchup of the top two teams in the Big Sky Conference, Weber State improved to 34-10 overall and 12-1 in the Big Sky. Sacramento State (25-22, 9-5) now finds itself in a tie for second place with Portland State.

The Wildcats have won a share of the Big Sky regular season championship five consecutive years, and need to win just one of their remaining four games to make it six straight. Weber State is now 12-1 in league, while both Sacramento State and Portland State are 9-5.

The Hornets never had a lead in either game today. In the opener, Weber State scored once in the first, three in the third and one more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. However, Sacramento State stormed back, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring four times on six hits in the sixth inning. The Hornets had hits in the inning from Samantha Parish, Lexie Webb, Alondra Mejia, Carley Morfey, Amber Rodriguez and Gwen Ludwig. That included a two-run triple for Mejia, and RBI-singles from Rodriguez and Ludwig.

After the Hornets had pushed four runs across, they would eventually load the bases with two outs, but Weber State pitcher  Arissa Henderson worked out of the jam withour further damage. The Wildcats scored a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth, both coming on a two-run single from Hoe.

Sacramento State got to Henderson (13-1), who has been one of the top pitchers in the Big Sky all season. She allowed the Hornets 10 hits and four runs with three walks and eight strikeouts. In fact, the Hornets outhit the Wildcats, 10-7. Eight different Hornets had hits in the contest, including multi-hit games from Rodriguez and Ludwig.

Marissa Bertuccio (17-8) lasted three innings in the loss. Kelsey Alcantara and Lexie Webb also pitched in the game.

In the nightcap, it was all Ramirez who allowed just three singles with one walk and six strikeouts over seven innings. She improved to 10-8 with the win, and the Hornets could not take advantage of three Weber State errors. Parish, Webb and Rodriguez had the Sacramento State hits.

Alyssa Nunez (1-3) took the loss for the Hornets, pitching the first 3.2 innings of the contest.
