BERKELEY, Calif. — Eliana Coburn and
Jack Charlton led the team during the opening day of the heptathlon and decathlon, respectively, during the first day of the Brutus Hamilton Multi on Thursday.

Coburn accumulated 3,058 points in the opening four events of the heptathlon. She opened the day by running 14.11 seconds for the fastest time in the 100-hurdles. Coburn then ranked third in the high jump after clearing 5-02.25 and was fifth in the shot put at 35-03.75. She completed the day by running the 200 in 25.92.

Charlton totaled 3,391 points in the first five events of the decathlon. He ran 11.40 in the 100 and had a long jump of 21-00.00 in his first two events. Charlton made his move up the leaderboard in the next two events as he was third in the shot put with a best of 40-06.25 and tied for third after clearing 6-00.50 in the high jump. His final event was the 400 where he ran 53.68.

Sacramento State was also represented by
Hollie Lewis in the heptathlon. Lewis had marks of 17.24 in the 100H, 4-08.25 in the high jump, 26-00.25 in the shot put and 28.28 in the 200 for 2,118 points which places her 18
th in the standings.

Joshua Braun is 10
th and
Blake DaQuino15th in the decathlon. Braun ran the 100 in 11.72, long jumped20-11.25, had a best in the shot put of 30-11.75, cleared 5-06.50 in the high jump and ran 51.86 in the 400.

DaQuino opened with a time of 12.15 in the 100 before long jumping 16-11.50. His shot put of 42-04.00 was the best in the competition which earned him 661 points. He later cleared 5-06.50 in the high jump and ran the 400 in 57.80.
