GRANT TAKES ON NCAA OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS ON FRIDAY

The senior is the first high jumper to compete at the meet in school history

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Nearly four years ago Miles Grant made the long trip from Portland, Ore., to Sacramento State so it's only fitting that Grant will complete the round trip in his final collegiate competition as a Hornet. The senior will return to his home state for the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track & Field Championships as he qualified in the high jump. Grant will jump on Friday, June 13, at 4:30 p.m. PT.

The senior is coming off a career-best performance at the NCAA West First Round in College Station, Texas two weeks ago. Grant tied for first place after clearing  7-feet, 1.5 inches. That performance earned him one of the 12 qualifying positions from the meet and took him into a tie for third place in school history. Grant's jump was the best by a Hornet since Adolfo Lopez cleared the same height in 1994. The pair only trail Joe Radan (7-03.00) and Bill Abbott (7-01.75) who recorded their bests in 1979 and 1980, respectively.

Grant is already one of the greatest student-athletes in program history. He was won the last four Big Sky Conference titles in the event (two indoor, two outdoor). He is also an exceptional student — earning Big Sky all-academic honors each year — and a key member of the department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

In competition, he cleared at least 6-11.00 in six meets during the 2025 outdoor season and enters the championships ranked 17th in the 24-person field. Grant is guaranteed to earn All-America honors as the top eight finishers are named to the first team, those that place 9th-16th earn second team and 17th-24th are honorable mention. He is just the 17th Hornet male to qualify for the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Championships and is the first to do so in the high jump.

Live coverage of the meet can be viewed on ESPN2 as well as ESPN+. The online streaming provider offers specific event-by-event coverage.
